David Arterburn, former director of the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Rotorcraft Systems Engineering and Simulation Center (RSESC), has received a career achievement award from the Vertical Flight Society (VFS) in recognition of his induction into the da Vinci Medallion Hall of Fame.

Caleb Blair, an Honors electrical engineering major in the College of Engineering at ÂÜÀòµºapp (UAH), has received a Department of Defense (DOD) Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service.

Researchers within ÂÜÀòµºapp’s (UAH) Autonomous Aerospace Research (A2R) center, are leading the development of a standard for ASTM International—formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials—that will assist both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and applicants in certifying small uncrewed aircraft for flight over people.

ÂÜÀòµºapp (UAH) will highlight its extensive capabilities in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, directed energy, information systems, rotorcraft systems, supply chain management and hypersonics during the Space & Missile Defense (SMD) Symposium at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Ala., Aug. 8-10.

ÂÜÀòµºapp honored the achievements in innovation by inventors from two colleges, six departments and four centers who have been awarded patents during the past year.
