The College of Nursing at ÂÜÀò”șapp (UAH) offers a nationally accredited, competitive Traditional BSN program that prepares students to enter the nursing profession with confidence, skill, and compassion.

Whether you’re a current ÂÜÀò”șapp student or transferring from another institution, this guide will walk you through exactly how to get into UAH’s nursing program, from admission requirements to what makes this program stand out.

Step 1: Apply to UAH

Before you can apply to the nursing program, you must first be accepted to UAH as a student. Admission to the university is the first step toward your future in nursing, but it does not guarantee admission to the professional nursing (upper-division) component. Learn more about the UAH Office of Admissions!

Step 2: Complete Prerequisite Coursework

The lower-division (pre-professional) phase of the BSN program includes general education and science courses that lay the foundation for nursing practice.

  • ÂÜÀò”șapp students complete these courses under the guidance of an undergraduate nursing advisor.
  • Transfer students can bring some credit from their original institution for our prerequisites. Which courses depend on the school and the course.

These courses build knowledge in biology, chemistry, psychology, and the social sciences, essential to providing safe, evidence-based care.

Step 3: Meet the Admission Criteria

Once you’ve completed your prerequisites, you can apply to the upper-division (professional) component of the BSN program.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Admission to UAH
  • Submission of a completed Nursing Program Application
  • Completion of prerequisite courses that meet UAH Nursing admissions requirements listed on our website.
  • ATI TEAS Exam scores that meet UAH Nursing admissions requirements listed on our website

Planning your path into the nursing program doesn’t have to wait - schedule an appointment with our pre-nursing academic advisor!

Step 4: Prepare for the Professional Phase

Once admitted to the upper-division nursing program, you’ll begin a five-semester journey that combines classroom instruction, simulation, and clinical experience. You’ll take 300- and 400-level courses that prepare you to provide holistic, compassionate care to individuals and communities.

Graduates of the UAH BSN program are not only well-prepared, they’re highly successful.

  • 100% of recent graduates passed the NCLEX-RN exam on their first attempt.
  • 100% of graduates secured employment soon after graduation.

These outcomes reflect the strength of UAH’s nursing education and the dedication of its students and faculty.

Upon graduation, you’ll earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and become eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam to become a registered nurse (RN).

Program Outcomes: What You’ll Learn

Graduates of the UAH College of Nursing BSN program are prepared to:

  • Use foundations in nursing science and liberal arts to guide professional practice
  • Apply ethical, evidence-based care for diverse populations
  • Integrate research to improve health outcomes
  • Demonstrate leadership, accountability, and communication skills
  • Utilize technology and information systems for safe, quality care
  • Advocate for equity, inclusion, and social justice in health care

The program aligns with national standards such as the AACN Essentials (2021), the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics (2015), and Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies.
