To guide faculty and staff with purchases for UAH business purposes, this 2026 Expenditure Matrix is provided as a cheat sheet on the appropriate course of action (Preferred Method) for the respective Category/Transaction Type.

UAH-Affiliated Social Media Account Audit

As a reminder, the university continues its work to ensure compliance with federal accessibility requirements, including the ADA Title II digital accessibility requirements, which take effect on April 24, 2026. These requirements also impact all UAH-affiliated social media accounts.

Those with access to UAH-affiliated social media accounts will be required to complete Social Media Accessibility Training.

To ensure that we have an accurate list of all UAH-affiliated social media properties and their account holders, please submit the UAH-Affiliated Social Media Account Audit form as soon as possible.

You should submit one form for each Department/Entity account that you manage.
If you are not the primary account holder, please coordinate with that person to submit the form to prevent duplicate entries if possible.

The Social Media Accessibility training module will soon be available in Canvas to all known accountholders. Once it is available, you should see it listed among your assigned courses.

Reminder: College of Nursing Dean search – Presentation Dates

The search committee for the next Dean of the UAH College of Nursing has selected four finalists to visit UAH during the month of April.

As part of their visit, each candidate will deliver a presentation on the theme, "Advancing Excellence in Nursing Education: Lessons from My Leadership Experience," followed by an opportunity for questions. UAH faculty and staff are invited to attend these presentations as you are able. For those who attend presentations or otherwise interact with the candidates, there will be an opportunity to provide feedback via surveys to be distributed following the visits.

Build Skills: Skills Training for Gemini & NotebookLM remains open to all faculty and staff. Learn to iterate on prompts and verify AI accuracy for your specific role.
Human-in-the-Loop: While AI can accelerate your work, always fact-check and verify AI-generated content for accuracy and tone before use.
Practical Use Cases: Discover how to use AI for tasks like drafting course outlines or summarizing transcripts while keeping UAH data secure.

Join us for the AFSP Campus Walk, part of the national Out of the Darkness Walk series supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

This event brings together students, faculty, staff, and community members to raise awareness, support one another, and fundraise for suicide prevention.

Remembering Jimmy Hubbard

Dear UAH Community,

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Jimmy Hubbard, Director of Student Ethics and Education, who passed away following a brief illness.

Jimmy joined UAH in 2017, bringing with him a strong commitment to student development and care. Prior to his time at UAH, he served for 10 years in Housing and Residential Communities at The University of Alabama. His career also included roles at Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee, and the University of Tennessee at Martin. Jimmy maintained deep roots in western Tennessee and cherished his extended family and close friends there, as well as his “friends who are family” in Nashville, North Carolina and Tuscaloosa.

Beyond his professional contributions, Jimmy was actively involved in his church and choir, reflecting his generous spirit and dedication to community.

“Jimmy was dedicated to supporting students' growth and helping them learn from their experiences with fairness and care. His work made a meaningful difference in the lives of countless students at UAH and he will be missed dearly,” said Dr. Ronnie Hebert, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church (786 Hughes Road, Madison), with a reception immediately following the service.

For those who wish to honor Jimmy’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to:

UAH Mission Accessible: Progress Update and Next Steps

Dear UAH Community,

��app continues its work on UAH Mission Accessible, and this update outlines recent progress and the next steps for the campus community.

As a reminder, this initiative is a university-wide, collective effort to ensure compliance with federal accessibility requirements, including the ADA Title II digital accessibility requirements which take effect on April 24, 2026. This work applies to all UAH faculty and staff and continued engagement is essential as the university moves toward the deadline. Review Dr. Karr’s call to action regarding accessibility.

Now is the time to take action, stay engaged, and ensure our digital content meets accessibility requirements across the university.

Where We Are Now

Over the past several months, meaningful progress has been made in preparing the campus for these requirements:

An interim Digital Accessibility Policy has been developed and is now available online.
Resources and guidance continue to be centralized on the UAH Accessibility webpage.
Required training modules have been launched to support this effort.

  - How to make your email accessible
  - YuJa Panorama
  - DocHub (PDF Remediation Tool)
  - Social media training will be launching soon!
The Enhanced Teaching & Learning Center (ETLC) has resources that are available on the Mission Accessible webpage.

Support Opportunities

To support continued progress, the ETLC is hosting “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) training sessions. These hands-on opportunities are designed to help apply accessibility practices directly to existing materials:

What You Need to Do

If you haven’t already, please complete the required training modules as soon as possible to ensure your digital content meets our accessibility standards.

All digital materials — including course content, communications, websites and documents — must meet accessibility standards by April 24, 2026.

Save the date! Join us this Friday as we celebrate the naming of Les Stuedeman Field in honor of our legendary founding softball coach, Les Stuedeman.

From launching the program in 1996 to building a national powerhouse, Stuedeman led UAH to 13 Gulf South Conference championships and 26 NCAA tournament appearances — leaving a lasting mark on Charger Athletics.

As the April 24, 2026 deadline approaches, we want to make sure you have the resources and support you need to meet the new federal digital accessibility standards. These apply to all digital content we create and share including course materials, documents, and other digital resources.To get started, we encourage you to complete the Launch module in Mission Accessible. It's a great starting point for understanding what we have to do and why it matters; it should take about 45 minutes to complete.

Whether you are just beginning or already in the thick of it, the ETLC is here for you. We are hosting a series of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) sessions where you can come work on remediating your documents, courses, or other digital materials — with our team right there to assist you with any questions you encounter.Upcoming BYOD Sessions (SST 154):
