On December 1, 2025 OIT Security will install the Phish Alert Button (PAB) for Gmail for all ÂÜŔňµşapp staff. This button provides you with a quick and safe way to report suspicious emails to OIT security for review.

What is the Phish Alert Button (PAB)?

The PAB allows you to easily report a potential phishing email via Gmail. Clicking the PAB will forward the suspicious email to our OIT Security department for review and remediation. It will also provide reporting metrics and, if deemed dangerous, automatically remove the suspected email from all users’ inboxes to prevent future exposure. Reported emails that are found to be legitimate will be restored to the user’s inbox.

This update will be performed in phases for all accounts:

UAH Faculty & Emeriti: Wednesday, October 22

Students: Nov. 5, 2025

Other (entities, etc.): Nov. 19, 2025

After your group’s transition date, you may not automatically be prompted to log into Google due to the lengthy timeout setting. The next time you are, the prompt will be SSO prompt instead of the Google login page.
One-Time Confirmation: The very first time you log into Google with SSO, you may see a prompt to confirm your identity. Simply click Continue or Confirm to link your account.

Action Required: If you use an application like Outlook, Apple Mail, or a smartphone mail app, you may need to remove and re-add your account after your transition date to continue receiving email.
